Milling copra, 6 % moisture line

A data sheet for the mill buying desk and QC. The figures Kora publishes are in the table; an empty cell means no data, and the notes below say what you still need to ask for on every lot.

A fit for mills that

Grind copra and write a tighter moisture limit into the purchase terms, for example because lots often wait in a warehouse before they reach the press.

What the receiving desk needs on file

  • The lot COA, with the same sample code as the load that arrives.
  • The method and basis for moisture, oil and FFA, written into the purchase terms.
  • A limit for foreign matter and visible mould, since Kora publishes no figure for either.
  • An agreed way to settle a difference between mill and supplier results.

Papers that travel with the load

A bill of lading and packing list for the load, the COA for lot quality, and a phytosanitary certificate and certificate of origin for quarantine and origin.

Questions buyers ask

Which limits does Kora publish for lower-moisture milling copra (max 6 %)?

Moisture up to 6 per cent, oil content at least 63 per cent and free fatty acid up to 2 per cent. The test method is not named. Lot values, method and basis are in the lot COA, so ask for it before unloading.

What must a mill still settle for lower-moisture copra (max 6 %)?

Foreign matter and aflatoxin have no published data, and the grade bands are given on request. Write a limit for foreign matter and visible mould into the purchase terms, with the method and basis for moisture, oil and FFA and a way to settle lab differences.

How is the copra packed, and which papers travel with the load?

Jumbo bag or bulk, about 13 MT per 20-foot container. A bill of lading and packing list cover the load, the COA covers lot quality, and a phytosanitary certificate and certificate of origin cover quarantine and origin.
